Introduction
This course is currently undergoing revalidation and changes to the programme structure and programme name are likely; the modified course will available for full-time study in September 2012 and fuller details of the new award will be available in Spring 2012. The programme is particularly suitable for graduates with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science or other degrees that have a significant amount of human biology/biomedical content, medical, dental or veterinary degrees and some biotechnology degrees (depending on modules studied at undergraduate level). Graduates from this course have gone on to become Biomedical Scientists, Clinical Scientists, industrial researchers, and some have progressed to undertake PhDs and pursue academic careers.

All students study the core modules: Methods in Clinical Analysis; and Research Methods; Current Issues in Biomedical Research; and Biomedical Aspects of Ageing.
Specialist subjects which are offered include:

Students following a named specialist subject route study two modules of the specialist subject. The MSc Biomedical Science will be awarded to students combining two different specialist subject modules.
A research project is undertaken for the award of MSc. It is carried out under the supervision of specialist subject tutors either at the University or at a placement in a suitable research institute. A Postgraduate Diploma may be awarded to students who do not undertake the research project.
