Introduction

On successful completion of this Developing Advanced Practice level 3 (UZTR1R-20-3) or Masters level module (UZTR1S-20-M) you will be able to:

  • Analyse health belief models and the impact they have on individuals in a health care setting.
  • Apply a systematic assessment of an individual, taking into consideration the psych-social factors that will influence their health care needs.
  • Understand clinical reasoning models that influence Advanced Practice and how this will influence future practice.
  • Revise and evaluate individual practice to enable advance communication with member of the health care team.
  • Understand physical assessment process and the part in plays in a holistic assessment of an individual.

Structure

Content

The Multi-Professional Foundation Programme (MPFP) consists of three 20 credit modules, offered at undergraduate and masters levels.

Integrated Advanced Practice (UZTSVW-20-3/UZTSW4-20-M)
Developing Advanced Practice (UZTRIR-20-3/UZTRIS-20-M)
Leadership and Innovation (UZTSVU-20-3/UZTSW-20-M)

Together, these modules form the Foundation Programme and are designed to appeal to a range of practitioners.

The module team includes nurses and Allied Health Professionals, and is also supported by people currently working in practice to ensure that learning and development is relevant and current.

These can be taken as a whole or as individual modules separate from the Foundation Programme.

Learning and Teaching

A variety of approaches will be used which may include:

  • E-learning including Blackboard
  • Lectures
  • Practical sessions
  • Seminars
  • Experts from practice
  • Analysis of case studies

Assessment

This is a professional practice module and you will be required to undertake an oral holistic assessment of an individual. A professional portfolio will demonstrate your approach and rational of your advancing practice competencies. These will be set out in a competencies handbook.
