Introduction
The new National Award for SEN Co-ordination is a TDA/Department of Education initiative which is being offered, fully-funded, to all SENCOs new to the role. In addition to free training new SENCOs will be eligible for supply costs for any day-time taught sessions and to enable them to visit other SENCOs to observe practice in different settings. It is mandatory for all new SENCOs to undertake this award, and it is also available for experienced SENCOs but with no funding available.
In order to achieve this award you will need to complete two 30 credit modules at Master's Level which will include attendance for the first module, whilst the second will enable SENCOs to conduct an action enquiry into an area of personal interest. SENCOs will also be required to collate a portfolio of evidence against all the TDA specified learning outcomes.
The programme is flexible and SENCO's have up to 3 years to complete this award.
