Learning and Teaching

How will I learn?

Prior to your course starting

Prior to your first training session you will be required to complete our online ILM welcome session, explaining more about your qualification and the University via our online learning environment BlackBoard. Once registered onto the course, you will have access to our online induction which sets out the aims of your qualification and how we will support you in achieving this.

Each face-to-face training session will have preparation work for you to complete ready for the session.

Our open courses are practical training days designed to give you an opportunity to look, analyse and discuss with our tutors and your peers the subject area and explore possible approaches and tools and techniques available to use.  Alongside each face-to-face training day you will have will have access to online tools and materials, designed to support you further through your learning of the ILM unit.

To achieve your ILM qualification, you will be required to complete an assessment after each unit you attend, where you will be given a set hand-in date to submit your ILM assignment (approximately six weeks after the training session).

If you are unsuccessful in passing your assessment on your first submission, you will have the opportunity to resubmit your assessment, however resubmission fees will apply.

What commitment do I have to make?

The time commitment required to compete the qualification will vary depending on your units chosen, however once registered onto the ILM qualification you will be given nine months to complete the required units and pass your qualification.

Each ILM unit will require you to set aside a number of hours to complete your self-study and assessment, as an approximate guide, we would suggest a two day taught unit would require an additional three days self-study to focus on own research and assessment writing.

On successful completion of your qualification you will be invited to join us at our ILM presentation ceremony to collect your ILM certificate and celebrate your achievement.
