The Faculty of Business and Law, UWE Bristol, has been a registered training provider with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) since 2013, offering qualifications in Coaching and Mentoring and Leadership and Management, to both individuals and employers.

The ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management is a flexible qualification which allows you to choose the topic areas you wish to study, to support your learning and development, allowing you to tailor the qualification to your personal learning objectives and needs.
We deliver the ILM units through a series of one and two day face-to-face open courses in a broad range of leadership and management subjects from understanding leadership and developing yourself and others, to solving problems and decision making, and understanding financial information or getting the most out of your team through motivation.

Who is it for?
The ILM level 5 qualifications in Leadership and Management are designed for individuals who are practising middle managers, helping you to develop your skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities.
The Certificate in Leadership and Management allows you to focus on a broader range of subjects, within the qualification. If you are interetsed in a more concise qualification, the ILM level 5 award may be more suitable.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However due to the nature of the assessments, you will be required to be in a team leader/management position to be able to draw from personal experience to complete the assessments.

What does it cover?
The ILM qualification is designed to equip you with the tools and techniques to tackle a variety of management issues and proactively look to support yours and your team's development.
To Complete the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management qualification you will first complete our online induction, explaining more about your qualification and the University and our core unit in Leadership. As part of this unit you will be required to complete a personal development plan, which will help you identify your areas for development and assist with your choice of remaining units to study.
You will then be required to study three more units through our open courses listed below to achieve the Certificate:

Once you have achieved the credits you wish to complete you will be able to accept your qualification and be invited to join us at our ILM presentation ceremony to collect your ILM certificate and celebrate your achievement.
Learning and Teaching
How will I learn?
Once registered onto the ILM course, you will have access to our online induction which sets out the aims of your qualification and how we will support you in achieving this. You will then be able to book onto our open courses linking to the ILM units in the subject areas you wish to study.
Our open courses are practical training days designed to give you an opportunity to look, analyse and discuss with our tutors and your peers the subject area and explore possible approaches and tools and techniques available to use. Alongside each face-to-face training day you will have will have access to online tools and materials, designed to support you further through your learning of the ILM unit.
What commitment do I have to make?
The time commitment required to compete the qualification will vary depending on your units chosen, however once registered onto the ILM qualification you will be given 18 months to complete the required units and pass your qualification.
Each ILM unit will require you to set aside a number of hours to complete your self-study and assessment, as an approximate guide, we would suggest a 2 day taught unit would require an additional 3 days self-study to focus on own research and assessment writing.
On successful completion of your qualification you will be invited to join us at our ILM presentation ceremony to collect your ILM certificate and celebrate your achievement.
To achieve your ILM qualification, you will be required to complete an assessment after each unit you attend, where you will be given a set hand-in date to submit your ILM assignment (approximately six weeks after the training session).
If you are unsuccessful in passing your assessment on your first submission, you will have the opportunity to resubmit your assessment, however resubmission fees will apply.
This course is accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management
Our short courses are run at our dedicated Centre, providing a professional environment for your training needs. Located at Frenchay Campus, with easy access to the M4 and M5 motorways and Bristol Parkway rail station, it has four fully equipped training rooms, a communications and reception area.
To be able to fully participate in our course, you will need to be comfortable with using the Internet and searching for information online. Session materials are presented through a number of sources including Microsoft Word, Power Point, pdf and online workbooks and discussions.
As a leaner at the University of the West of England, you will also have full access to our library on campus and all online materials and resources. Alongside this once registered onto the ILM qualification you will be able to register for your ILM study membership and its range of benefits.
Supplementary fee information
Full fee: £2,250
20% early bird discount fee: £1,800 (for bookings paid in full 8 weeks or more in advance)
15% UWE Alumni Discount fee: £1,912.50 (available until the course start date)
Please note that discounts can not be used in conjunction with each other. The greatest discount available will be applied at your booking confirmation.
