Co-developed with Alliance Medical Limited, this sector-leading PGCert PET-CT gives radiographers and nuclear medicine technologists specialist expertise, professional recognition and future-proofed skills to advance their careers in this fast-growing imaging field.

About

Why study PET-CT?

PET-CT is one of the fastest-growing areas in medical imaging, playing a huge role in achieving earlier cancer diagnoses and driving innovations in dementia research. It's becoming an essential part of modern healthcare, especially with an ageing population, but until now there hasn't been a UK postgraduate degree dedicated to PET-CT.

The PGCert PET-CT has been designed to address the needs of the workforce, meet the increasing demand for advanced diagnostic imaging, and improve outcomes for patients. If you're already working in PET-CT and learning on the job, this course will give you a formal qualification, professional recognition, confidence and deep clinical understanding.

Why UWE Bristol?

Co-developed in partnership with Alliance Medical Limited, one of the biggest national providers of PET-CT services, this sector-leading course is the first of its kind in the UK.

You'll learn from UWE Bristol's diagnostic imaging specialists, supported by practising senior clinicians from Alliance Medical Limited. This collaboration of clinical excellence and expertise in healthcare education ensures your course content is current, relevant and grounded in real-world professional practice.

The content is delivered primarily online, making it flexible and accessible if you're already working and need to fit your learning around your shifts, travel and other commitments.

Where can it take me?

PGCert PET-CT is aimed at registered diagnostic radiographers and nuclear medicine technologists already working in, or aiming to specialise in, PET-CT roles across the NHS and private sector.

This course gives you a future-proofed qualification that recognises PET-CT as a specialist discipline. It'll prepare you to lead the next generation of imaging services and adapt to emerging trends. You'll build advanced skills in leadership, research and analytical thinking, boosting your impact and desirability in the workforce.

PET-CT is expanding rapidly across both the NHS and the private sector, creating strong demand for skilled practitioners with recognised specialist training. Because this is the first formal PET-CT postgraduate qualification of its kind in the UK, completing it puts you ahead of the competition in the current workforce.

If you already work in PET-CT, this PGCert helps deepen your expertise, build confidence in your clinical decision-making and strengthen your professional identity.
