On our LLM International Commercial Law, you'll study commercial laws giving you the expertise to stand out. Regardless of your background, you'll start with an introductory module in law and research, establishing a solid foundation for the rest of the course.
In your final module, the Legal Research Project, you'll apply your learning by researching a topic of your interest. This allows you to demonstrate your legal knowledge, critical understanding, research skills, and self-reflection.

As you progress, you'll explore more specialist legal and commercial topics, including world trade law, international contracts, technology law, financial crimes, intellectual property and banking law.
You'll develop transferable skills, such as legal research, problem-solving, enterprise and communication, which are desirable across legal and non-legal professional contexts. You could go on to find employment in a broad range of areas, from legal practice to banking.

Year one

- International Contract Law
- Technology Law
- International Banking and Finance Law
- International Financial Crime
- World Trade Law
- Intellectual Property Law.
Year two
You'll study:
- Legal Research Project.

Learning and Teaching
Learn through a range of methods, including recorded lectures, guided and self-guided independent learning, discussion boards, virtual learning environments, and other media.
Teaching is practice-led and research-informed, meaning you'll apply theoretical knowledge and international research to practical scenarios. This allows you to explore real-world examples from a wide range of contexts.
Engage with the content through interactive and collaborative tasks, activities, and quizzes to deepen your understanding. You'll develop your critical thinking as an active participant and reflective learner, increasing your independence and autonomy.
In your final module, the Legal Research Project, you'll put your learning into practice. You'll investigate a contemporary issue using appropriate concepts, frameworks and methodologies.

Entry
Entry requirements
You should have:
- An honours degree of 2:2 or above in Law, or
- An honours degree of 2:2 or above plus a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) or the Common Professional Examination (CPE), or
- An honours degree of 2:2 or above in a related subject (such as business, politics or international relations) and/or relevant experience. Please give full details in your application.
If you don't meet the above requirements but have at least 12 months relevant professional experience and/or equivalent qualifications, we'll consider you on an individual basis.
International applicants

English Language Requirement
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*).
