Entry
Entry requirements
You'll need:
- an honours degree of 2:2 or above or equivalent, and;
- at least three years' work experience with managerial responsibilities. Please ensure you give details of your relevant experience, either on the application form, or you can attach a copy of your CV to your application.
If you don't meet the above requirements but have at least three years' line management experience, we'll consider you on an individual basis.
We won't be able to accept your application for this course if you require a Student visa. Please refer to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) (Full-time)
English Language Requirement
International and EU applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*).

Learning and Teaching
This part-time Executive MBA combines flexible study with a highly engaging, cohort-based learning experience. You'll learn alongside experienced professionals and participate in smaller study groups that support deeper discussion, collaboration and peer learning. As you explore contemporary organisational challenges, you'll strengthen your ability to communicate ideas, influence stakeholders and lead effectively, while fitting study around your professional and personal commitments.
Our teaching focuses on the practical application of theory. You'll explore contemporary business challenges, leadership approaches and strategic decision-making through real-world case studies, group discussions and workplace-focused activities.
The learning is collaborative and draws on academic expertise and engagement with experienced professionals from a range of sectors, industries and organisations. You can also personalise your learning through elective study choices and an independent project aligned to your career goals and organisational interests.

Study time
The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) is a part-time course, allowing you to create a work-life balance to suit you.
You'll have the choice whether you start the course in September or January. You need to attend attend campus for four five-day blocks in Year one and again in Year two, and you'll work on your dissertation in Year three.
You'll be allocated to a tutor who'll support you with your progress throughout your three years of study.
Assessment
Our assessment approach is designed to reflect the demands of senior leadership roles and professional practice. A strong emphasis is placed on oracy and workplace communication, recognising that senior leaders must be able not only to develop robust ideas, but also to articulate them clearly, influence stakeholders and inspire action.
Rather than relying on traditional essays, you'll complete a range of assessments that develop both your business knowledge and professional communication skills. These may include presentations, business proposals, strategic analyses, reflective activities, reports and project work.
Throughout the course, you'll apply your learning to workplace challenges, allowing you to demonstrate practical leadership capability while creating value for your organisation.

Its flexible, stackable structure enables you to gain a PGCert after 30 credits and a PGDip after 90 credits, before progressing to the full MBA. Graduates may also choose to continue their studies through UWE Bristol's Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), enabling experienced professionals to undertake advanced applied research focused on real organisational challenges.
