BA(Hons) Sports Business and Entrepreneurship

This module will help you understand how teams work by drawing on your experience within a Team Company. You'll explore team dynamics, team roles, communication and the processes that enable groups to operate effectively and sustainably. Reflection on practical projects and ventures will help you develop self-awareness and recognise how individual contributions can influence team performance. Supported by team coaching, you'll learn how to set shared goals, review progress, give and receive feedback and support others' learning. You'll also build confidence in collaborative, self-managed and team-based ways of working.

This module will focus on self-leadership, helping you mobilise yourself towards agreed and self-defined goals. You'll develop and maintain a Learning Contract that records your goals, planned activities, achievements and reflections. Through projects, ventures, feedback and team coaching, you'll explore goal setting, self-management, personal values, ethics and professional behaviours. The module will support you to identify the habits and learning needed to make progress, gather evidence of your development and review your achievements with others. Along the way, you'll strengthen your self-awareness, reflective practice and capacity for independent learning.

This practice-led module will introduce you to entrepreneurial activity through learning by doing. You'll identify, create, evaluate and explore opportunities while developing a project or business idea and considering the steps needed to bring it to life. Topics may include opportunity recognition, venture creation, sales, operations, finance and innovation in start-up or established business contexts. Through projects, ventures, reflection and team coaching, you'll build a portfolio of practice that evidences your developing knowledge and skills. You'll strengthen your confidence, self-management and ability to turn ideas into practical action.

This module will explore the wider context in which sports organisations and industries operate. Through practical opportunities, investigations, projects and reflection, you'll develop knowledge of sports business and apply it to your own learning. Topics will include governance, operations, marketing, fan engagement, digital media, commercial activity, sponsorship and technology. Working within a Team Company and supported by team coaching, you'll build enterprising and entrepreneurial capabilities while connecting with real-life challenges where appropriate. You'll strengthen your self-directed learning, contextual awareness and ability to reflect on a particular aspect of sports business.

This module will develop your ability to work with others as you run your Team Company and strengthen it as a learning organisation. You'll help create and maintain a Team Company Strategy that sets out the team's mission, vision and values, while reviewing achievements, capability and performance. Using the Team Company Framework, you'll identify expectations for your second year, support the learning of others and contribute to the wider programme community. Reflection and shared practice will help you understand how effective teams learn and develop together.

In this module, you'll focus on self-leadership and your ability to work towards self-defined, agreed and required goals. You'll continue maintaining a Learning Contract, setting increasingly ambitious activities as your specialist interests become clearer. By recording achievements, using feedback and reflecting on experience, you'll review your progress with your Team Company. This module will extend your enterprising and entrepreneurial practice through active projects and ventures. You'll develop ideas, test opportunities and apply your learning in practical contexts, building confidence in taking initiative and creating value. Working with others will strengthen your communication, collaboration and decision-making, while reflection and feedback will help you evaluate your contribution and progress. You'll continue developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to undertake increasingly ambitious enterprise activity and connect your practical experience with your evolving professional and entrepreneurial goals.

You'll update a shared strategy that expresses the team's mission, vision and values, and use a Team Company Framework to understand final-year expectations. Through projects and ventures initiated by the programme, your team or individual members, you'll build advanced teamwork capability. You'll also learn how to support the development of others, including people outside the Team Company, and reflect on the team's contribution to wider society.
