Study our Construction Site Management apprenticeship to gain a Level 6 BSc(Hons) Construction Project Management degree accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Project management is critical to the development of large or small construction and infrastructure schemes, ensuring managers are equipped to create safe working systems for all staff. On construction sites, project managers coordinate multiple resources to deliver projects that comply with their clients' safety, budget, time and environmental constraints. Our Level 6 apprenticeship will offer you the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed in your workplace, as required by the Construction Site Management apprenticeship standard. Develop your skills in project management, digital planning and building information modelling (BIM), using the latest industry standard software. This three-year apprenticeship is suited to current building or construction employees who are interested in developing their career in this industry. You'll gain an appreciation of senior project management in construction, enabling you to progress to a project and site management or infrastructure development role.
As a Construction Site Management apprentice, you'll learn from UWE Bristol's experienced construction management team. Our construction experts offer a wide range of expertise, including project managers in practice, surveying professionals and legal professionals. Our construction tutors are actively engaged in research or professional practice, ensuring our teaching reflects the latest developments in the field. You'll also attend presentations from visiting professionals, academics and graduates, enabling you to build your professional network and engage with current industry challenges. Benefit from site visits and field trips across the UK (subject to funding and employer agreement), as you learn how projects are delivered and managed in different construction environments. You'll also get the chance to experience an international field trip (subject to funding and employer agreement). This gives you the opportunity to explore further afield, discovering how construction processes vary in other countries worldwide.
This apprenticeship will upskill you as an existing employee, enabling your organisation to "grow their own" construction professionals, without the need to recruit new talent. By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be ready to progress to senior project management roles within your workplace. You'll study part-time, allowing you to remain at work while you study. You'll gain direct experience alongside your studies, without taking significant time away from the business. Throughout your learning, you'll be able to apply your new skills directly to your role, benefitting your organisation from the outset. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you'll achieve a degree professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). You'll also be eligible for Incorporate Membership of CIOB, ensuring you'll continue to learn from a recognised professional body in this industry. This can lead to Corporate Membership on completion of CIOB's Professional Development Programme (PDP).
On successful completion, you'll achieve a BSc(Hons) Construction Project Management degree, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). By the end of your apprenticeship, you'll be equipped to manage construction projects and deliver outcomes that meet client needs and safety standards.

After the modules, you'll take the End-Point Assessment to complete your apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship is delivered on a part-time basis over three years.
Additional time is required after completion of the degree to meet the End-Point Assessment (EPA) requirements and achieve the apprenticeship. Until you begin your EPA, at least 6 hours per week of your paid work time is protected for off-the-job training. This includes time allocated to your degree studies.
Material will be delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials. The variety of teaching methods creates a collaborative environment for learning, with regular tutor support and feedback. Learning will be consolidated through direct reading, site visits and field trips (subject to funding and employer agreement).

This is a practical apprenticeship with an emphasis on applying your project management knowledge to construction sites, developing your hands-on skills and confidence.
You'll be assessed through a mix of coursework reports, practical application of construction information technology (CIT) techniques, presentations, project work and seen and unseen exams.
Coursework will consist of essays, reports, practical applications, calculations, presentations and projects. There is also a dissertation or similar extended research project in your third year.
Successful apprentices will qualify with a BSc(Hons) Construction Project Management degree (Level 6). UWE Bristol holds Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Accredited Centre Status during the period 2022-2027 and this qualification is CIOB Accredited during the period 2022-2027, having been judged to meet the CIOB Education Framework.
Prospective members holding these qualifications have full academic exemption and once you have gained three to five years' relevant work experience, you may enter CIOB membership as an applicant to progress towards Chartered Membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment.
