About

This 15 credit online module, Developing Individuals and Teams, focuses on supporting personal and collective growth within educational settings. It explores strategies for enhancing professional development, with particular emphasis on communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills. 

Through a combination of theoretical frameworks and practical applications, you will gain insights into effective mentoring, coaching, and feedback techniques. Emphasis is placed on creating supportive and inclusive learning environments conducive to both individual and collective success.

On successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • critically evaluate approaches to professional development.    
  • analyse developmental requirements and learning needs in a specific educational context.    
  • demonstrate attentive listening and effective communication skills in aiding individual professional development.

Structure

Content

This module focuses key knowledge, skills and ability to support personal development within educational contexts. This includes areas such as key theories, approaches and frameworks to help understand personal development, needs analysis, performance indicators and management, communication skills and conflict resolution, active listening skills through coaching and mentoring conversations, understanding individual motivation and developmental goals, ethics, reflection and action planning.

Learning and Teaching

This module offers a structured and engaging learning journey, guiding learners towards the achievement of specific learning outcomes. 

You'll have access to a variety of learning materials including clear written text, diagrams, animations, videos, interactive elements, activities, quizzes, and discussions. 

Emphasis is placed on active learning strategies and tasks are designed to be authentic and directly relevant to programme learning outcomes. Structured online discussion forums provide opportunities for you to engage with your peers, share perspectives and challenge ideas. There'll be asynchronous group work, facilitated through platforms like wikis.

Assessment

Assessment for this module requires you to engage in a short development-focused conversation, and write a reflective analysis within a specific educational context.
