This 20 credit Principles of Cancer Care online module explores the key aspects of cancer in clinical care and wider society.
On successful completion of this level 6 (UZTSWA-20-3) or level 7(UZTSWB-20-M) module, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of cancer biology, aetiology and treatments
- Highlight long term and late effects associated with cancer diagnosis and treatments
- Explain the principles of proactive management for people affected by cancer including self-care, self-management and enabling independence
- Discuss the psychosocial impact of cancer on individuals, families and society
- Reflect on the impact of their learning on their professional practice.

Structure
Content
Contemporary issues for those living with and beyond cancer will be discussed, considered and investigated. Drawing on clinical expertise and research the module will enable healthcare professionals to develop their knowledge, understanding and professional practice within the speciality of oncology and beyond.
Assessment
You will be asked to develop and submit a conference style poster which critically explores an aspect of cancer care related to your practice or learning.
You are required to defend your poster in a viva consisting of a 10 minute presentation and 10 minutes question and answer session. The poster and viva will be assessed.
You will have the opportunity for formative support and assessment throughout the module via assignment support sessions and feedback on a poster and presentation plans.
