20 credit level 7 module
Introduction
This 20 credit module, Health Promotion: Theory, Evidence and Practice, explores current debates in health promotion and provides a stimulating learning environment in which you will critically examine key concepts, models, and approaches within the field.
All 17 United Nation (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (USGs) underpin the teaching and learning ethos of this module which looks broadly at the key principles, concepts and theories which underpin health promotion. More specifically, the syllabus content directly reflects the ambitions of USGs (3) good health and wellbeing, (4) quality education, (5) gender equality, (8) decent work and economic growth, (10) reduced inequalities, (11) sustainable cities and communities and (17) partnerships for the goals.
This level 7 (Masters level) module has been designed for learners undertaking the innovative MSc Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) and is therefore aligned to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards of Proficiency for SCPHN (2022). It can, however, be completed as a standalone CPD module, including by those who are neither registered nurses or midwives. Where it is undertaken by registered nurses and midwives prior to undertaking the MSc SCPHN, recognition of accredited learning is available to enable transfer of credit.
