Introduction

"This programme has had the most significant impact on my reflective practice. I thought I was reflective before, but attending this marked a pivotal point in my leadership journey and I am now more acutely self-aware and observant of my impact on others." Georgia, Group Captain, Royal Air Force.

At Bristol Business School, our portfolio of Open Programmes offers you and your business a flexible learning solution.  We have a range of programmes covering a wide range of topics, including Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring, Innovation, and Design Thinking, among many others.  Our programmes are delivered by experienced academics and practitioners, who combine cutting-edge research and thought leadership with a practical, real-world focus, to ensure our programmes meet professional and industry needs.

Several of the programmes in our Open Programme portfolio can also be taken as part of a full programme qualification.  For example, successful completion of the optional assessment in 'Personal Mastery in Leadership', enables you to achieve 15 credits towards the attainment of a PG Certificate in Leadership and Management.

Programme Introduction

Personal Mastery in Leadership is a unique, reflective programme that explores the concepts of self-leadership and identity in the workplace.   It is designed to help you develop greater self-awareness and knowledge around your personal identity, values, beliefs, aspirations and well-being, and how these factors contribute to your personal and professional effectiveness.

This programme further facilitates a critical understanding of impression management and the impact you may have on others with a view to helping you enhance your professional practice and your ability to lead yourself and others.

Who is it for?

Whether you are an aspiring, new or experienced leader of people, this programme will help you master the skills of self-leadership in order to put your best self forward and positively influence others.

It is also suitable for individuals who are looking for a change in direction or who are looking for ways to manage their own well-being and develop a supportive environment in times of uncertainty and change.

What do I get out of it?

This programme will help you to:

  • Develop a greater sense of your own identity through self-knowledge;
  • Enhance your personal and leadership effectiveness;
  • Enhance your ability to positively influence others;
  • Develop strategies to improve your personal resilience and well-being.

You also have the opportunity to complete the assessment and achieve 15 credits towards the attainment of a PG Certificate in Leadership and Management.

To obtain the full PG Certificate in Leadership and Management, you will also need to attend and complete the assessment for Leading Change Programme (15 credits) and the Strategic Leaders Programme (ILM Level 7) (30 credits).  The latter also provides you with an ILM Level 7 qualification.
