Specialist programme Trailblazer Programme
Introduction
If you're a UWE Bristol graduate, you have access to a pioneering and exclusive professional development programme, relevant across disciplines, regardless of when you graduated.
Launched in September 2018, our Trailblazer Programme is currently run as a diverse range of online interactive sessions. Participants are motivated to maximise personal impact, boost effectiveness and develop leadership skills.
Facilitated by experienced academics, seasoned practitioners, and inspirational speakers, this programme echoes the mantra of learning by doing which is integral to our Bristol Business School and Bristol Law School.
Who is it for?
Offered exclusively to UWE Bristol and Help to Grow alumni on a complimentary basis*, this is a chance to continue the learning that you began when you were a student. The programme enables you to take advantage of your lifelong connection to our expertise and community.
This programme will give you up-to-date relevant skills to use in your professional career. You will also gain access to a growing and vibrant community of Trailblazers with future networking events.
*Please note there is a £30 administrative fee.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this programme, however places are offered exclusively to UWE Bristol alumni from our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and Help to Grow alumni.
Structure
Content
The programme will be delivered via online learning, meaning you can attend and study from anywhere in the world. You will attend live and interactive group taught sessions online on set dates.
At the end of the programme you will receive a Digital Credential to confirm your completion of the programme. You must attend all sessions to achieve the credential.
Session 1 - Building inclusive leadership skills
Delivered by Dr Alvin Hadiono, Lecturer and Researcher in Human Resource Management, and Dr Tinkuma Edafioghor, Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management.
Understand what we mean by 'Inclusive Leadership' as well as your implicit assumptions and biases and start developing the necessary knowledge, motivation, and skills to identify where to start from in order to become an inclusive leader.
Session 2 - Self-development growth and empowerment
Delivered by Dr Alvin Hadiono, Lecturer and Researcher in Human Resource Management.
This session will enable you to reflect on your existing training and development needs and will provide you with tools to go forward in seeking opportunities for upskilling and enhancing your personal development.
Session 3 - Being entrepreneurial in the workplace
Delivered by Tom de Pentheny O'Kelly, Lecturer and Lauren Caple, Senior Lecturer.
Lauren and Tom are both Team Coaches on the pioneering Team Entrepreneurship degree programme at Bristol Business School. During this interactive session, they will be exploring entrepreneurial characteristics and how these can be applied to overcome challenges and maximise opportunities in the workplace. The session will give you the opportunity to apply creative skills, reflect on the challenges, achievements and opportunities within your workplace and engage in dialogue with your cohort. You will leave with tangible actions and top tips that you can apply to be more entrepreneurial in your workplace.
Session 4 - Coaching and mentoring
Delivered by Dr Arthur Turner, Senior Lecturer.
Transform your personal management style in this session by developing your coaching and mentoring skills to enhance performance and encourage self-exploration.

Although the programme is complimentary for UWE Bristol and Help to Grow alumni, we are asking for a fee of £30 to cover administration costs.
