Introduction
Critical Appraisal skills are key to commissioning and implementing evidence-based healthcare and health improvement programmes.
This course has a focus on Public Health and is designed for if you work in Local Authorities (e.g. Public Health and Environmental Health) and the NHS (doctors, nurses, paramedics, physiotherapists, other allied health professionals and managers).
It will also provide a suitable introduction to the main epidemiological study designs, and how to interpret research findings, if you are research staff/students.
Entry requirements
You must be a qualified practitioner.

UWE has a strong reputation in providing post-graduate training in the fields of Public Health and Environmental Health.
Our teaching draws on years of experience of working with a wide range of health professionals in the region, and is tailored to the issues they face in practice.
This study day provides an opportunity to revisit basic epidemiological concepts and to work in groups to critically appraise a range of papers relevant to practice.
You will take away skills that will help you to read, interpret and implement research evidence more effectively. Timetable and pre-course reading will be sent out in advance.
