EWBL modules are available at 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 60 credits and can be undertaken in Social Work, Social Sciences, Public Health and Allied Health Professions and Health Care Professions.
Evidencing Work Based Learning (EWBL) modules recognise that we all learn for work, at work and from work.
The modules provide a framework so that this learning can be structured, enhanced and accredited. In partnership with employers and UWE Bristol academic supervisors, you negotiate what learning you need to undertake and how it is to be evidenced. Please refer to the 'Content' section below to find out more details.
Prior to applying for this module, you will need to speak with the Module Leader, Meg Niven Withers (Meg.Nivenwithers@uwe.ac.uk) (Social Work) or Dawn Odd (Dawn2.Odd@uwe.ac.uk) (SCPHN).
EWBL modules can contribute to:
At level 6 (undergraduate level)
At level 7 (Masters level)
If you are already a qualified Social Worker, (Social Work) will follow the award title, ie. MSc Professional Development (Social Work).
Many work-based learning ideas and initiatives evolve from discussions that individuals have with managers or supervisors during appraisals or team meetings. Developing or implementing these ideas in practice can then form part of a personal development plan.
You will negotiate a learning contract with the support of your manager, a mentor at work, and an identified academic at UWE Bristol. Learning is very firmly student-led and, while there will be support and guidance when needed, the learning journey is your own responsibility. This will involve the development and implementation of various actions and learning opportunities and the presentation of the evidence of learning.
What sort of learning can be used?
Almost anything. EWBL is not about the University telling you what you need to know or what skills you need to do your job. You and you manager know that much better. UWE Bristol's role in the arrangement is to provide the support and facilities you need to undertake the learning that you have identified. It could be a work project, for example:
