Study day ARC: Breaking Bad News
Introduction
This workshop is aimed at ultrasound practitioners who want to develop specialised skills so that they can respond both practically and emotionally to parents' needs.

Content
It will provide opportunities to develop the skills needed to give sensitive care to their patients, explore ways of delivering difficult news following a diagnosis of fetal anomaly as well as equip sonographers with the tools and techniques
to be prepared for giving bad news with compassion and kindness.
This ½ day of lectures day will be delivered by the Antenatal Results Choices (ARC) charity. ARC is an established national charity that helps and supports both parents and healthcare professionals on all aspects of antenatal
screening and its consequences.
Lectures and will cover a variety of topics including:
- communication skills
- delivering difficult news after a scan
- the parent's perspective of screening
- reframing risk and providing best care
