Our Managing Projects Successfully Skills Bootcamp is designed to equip you with the core principles and transferable skills you need to excel in your current and future roles through enhancing project management skills including communication, leadership, teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities - skills highly valued by UK managers and essential for navigating the complexities of modern business.

By joining our Skills Bootcamp in Managing Projects Successfully, you will learn the fundamentals of project management through the APM Fundamentals professional qualification while developing and applying your practical project management skills through the creation of a live project brief based on a scenario within your organisation.

Entry requirements

Who is it for?

This Skills Bootcamp is aimed at individuals working for an SME organisation in a non-traditional project management, who would benefit from understanding the core principles of project management approaches to apply in their working practices.

Eligibility

Due to funding restrictions, all learners must meet the following criteria:

  • Be aged 19+ (by 16 September 2024)
  • Live or work for an organisation based in in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset or North Somerset (we will also consider applicants who live close to these boundaries)
  • Not currently in full-time or part-time education
  • Have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Have not registered and attended (including partial completion) any other Skills Bootcamp since April 2024 from any provider.
  • Not hold a qualification in project management at level 3 or above
  • Have your employers agreement to attend and achieve the required outcomes.

Structure

The Skills Bootcamp will run across a 12-week period encompassing eight live session days alongside self-study activity to develop your individual live project brief and prepare you for the APM Fundamentals exam.

Sessions will be delivered through a mix of in-person days at Frenchay Campus, Bristol and online group sessions.

Through the live sessions you will focus on core skills used in project management, working through the project lifecycle stages and appropriate approaches and tools you can use at each stage:

  • Defining your project
  • Planning your project
  • Delivering your project
  • Effective project closure

The programme also integrates a sustainability lens exploring the environmental, economic and social aspects across the project life cycle and how to align your project to business objectives with broader societal and ecological goals.

The Bootcamp will also look at the digital technologies learners can use to support working effectively, and the important role data visualisation and storytelling can play in decision-making.

Across the sessions, you will develop a live project brief drawing from your learning across the sessions and explore digital tools available to you to help you implement your project successfully and efficiently.

Features

Professional accreditation

As part of our Skills Bootcamp, learners will undertake the APM Fundamentals qualification through sitting a one-hour multiple choice exam. The APM Fundamentals qualification is an industry-relevant qualification which will help showcase your newly developed skills.

All learners will also receive a digital badge from UWE Bristol at the ned of the Bootcamp demonstrating their attendance and learning through the taught sessions and portfolio tasks.

  • Session 5 – Monday 4 November 2024; 09:30 – 16:30 (online)
  • Session 6 – Tuesday 5 November 2024; 09:30 – 16:30 (online)
  • Session 7 – Wednesday 13 November 2024; 09:30-16:30 Frenchay Campus (in-person)
  • APM revision session and exam – Wednesday 20 November 2024; 09:30-14:30 Frenchay Campus (in-person)
  • Session 8 – Wednesday 27 November 2024; 09:30-16:30 Frenchay Campus (in-person)

Alongside live sessions, learners will be required to undertake self-study activity and 1-2-1 career coaching sessions.

Bootcamp fees

This Skills Bootcamp is only open to individuals applying through their SME employer, If you are looking to apply as an independent learner, or through a large organisation employer, please complete our Expression of Interest form (How to Apply section below)  to be notified of suitable dates.

This Skills Bootcamp is costed at £3,455.60 per a learner.

All successful applicants will be funded 90% of the fee with their SME employer requiring to pay the remaining 10% contribution of £345.56.
