Introduction
This Skills Bootcamp addresses critical skills gaps by equipping green tech entrepreneurs, founders, and emerging leaders with the advanced leadership, strategy, and sales capabilities needed to scale sustainably.
Designed for those progressing from mid-level to senior roles, this programme blends expert-led training with real-world applicationhelping participants embed new skills directly into their roles and create immediate value for their organisation. From market expansion and people management to strategic planning and systems for growth, each session is built to deliver actionable insight that drives performance.
Our Skills Bootcamps combine academic expertise with industry engagement, offering strategic mentorship, peer learning, and practical tools tailored to the realities of high-growth, climate-focused businesses. Backed by a track record of delivering impactful SME support, our approach ensures participants leave with not only new knowledgebut the confidence and capability to lead meaningful, scalable change.

Entry requirements
Due to funding restrictions, all learners must meet the following criteria:
- Be aged 19 by 8 September 2025.
- Live in or work for an SME organisation based in in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset or North Somerset.
- Not currently be in full-time or part-time education.
- Have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Have not registered and attended (including partial completion) any other Skills Bootcamp since April 2024 from any provider.
- Have your employers agreement to attend and achieve the required outcomes.
Structure
Content
Our Skills bootcamp is structured through a mixture of live tutor led interactive sessions, practical insights visit and self-study resources. Alongside this, learners will be supported by an industry mentor who has extensive experience of working within the sector.
Across the ten weeks you will explore topics including:
- Market expansion strategies and prioritisation
- Value proposition refinement for diverse customer segments
- Improving conversion rates at every stage of the sales process
- Developing scalable customer feedback loops to inform product improvements
- Structuring the team for growth
- Effective hiring strategies and talent retention
- Crafting and communicating evolving company vision and values
- Identifying and implementing tools for process automation
- Visualise challenges and craft potential solutions using LEGO® Serious Play

Live sessions will take place in-person at Frenchay Campus on the following dates:

- Session 4 w/c 13 October 2025
- Session 5 w/c 20 October 2025
- Session 6 w/c 27 October 2025
- Session 7 w/c 3 November 2025
- Session 8 w/c 10 November 2025
- Session 9 w/c 17 November 2025
- Session 10 w/c 24 November 2025
Alongside these sessions, learners will be required to undertake self-study activity and engage with their industry mentor.
Bootcamp feesThis Skills Bootcamp has limited spaces available for SME employees.
90% government-funded for SME employersThis Skills Bootcamp is heavily subsidised, with the government covering 90% of the total cost for eligible learners applying through their SME employer.
The full course fee is £3,939.90, but SME employers pay just 10% only £393.99 per learner.
Please note: This Bootcamp is currently open only to applicants sponsored by SME employers. If you're an independent learner, self-employed, or part of a large organisation, please complete the Expression of Interest form in the How to Apply section so we can notify you about future availability.
The Skills Bootcamps Programme is funded and managed by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, and delivered by The University of the West of England, Bristol.
