We offer one-day professional courses covering different aspects of applied statistics. Courses are non-credit bearing and are designed for quick learning of the material covered.
Any course materials, including pre-reading, refreshments and lunch are included in the fee.
We would expect attendees to have met statistical ideas at some point in their past, ideally to be familiar with the material covered in the pre-requisite course: Introduction to Statistics 1.
If you are a non-UK student you will need to show your valid passport on entry to the UK. Please check your eligibility to visit and study in the UK here. If you are a non-Irish EU national currently resident in Ireland please contact us for further advice.
If English is not your country's first language, you will be required to provide evidence to show you meet the UK Border Agency and the University's minimum English Language requirements. Further details are available on our English Language Requirements webpage.
This course is a logical continuation of our Introduction to Statistics 1 course. It continues to cover the commonly used statistical tests and covers confidence intervals, the nonparametric approach to inference (e.g. the Wilcoxon test, Mann Whitney test, Kruskal Wallis test, etc) as well as exploring relationships using linear regression and missing value analysis. An overview of selecting the most appropriate statistical test is given.
We would expect attendees to have met statistical ideas at some point in their past, ideally to be familiar with the material covered in the pre-requisite course.
Our courses are designed so that you can learn how to make logical and valid conclusions from your data. Both days will focus on practical implementation of statistical techniques using SPSS, with further emphasis placed on incorporating good study design into your planning.
This short course runs on one day, 10:00-16:00.
This is a non-credit bearing course and no assessment will be undertaken.
You will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course.
