Introduction
We offer one-day short courses covering different aspects of applied statistics. Courses are non-credit bearing and are designed for quick learning of the material covered.
Any course materials, including pre-reading, lunch and refreshments are included in the fee.
Entry requirements
We would expect you to have a familiarity with the Windows operating system and an interest in wanting to learn how to use the R system
If you are a non-UK student you will need to show your valid passport on entry to the UK. Please check your eligibility to visit and study in the UK here. If you are a non-Irish EU national currently resident in Ireland please contact us for further advice.

Content
R is a statistical software package and statistical programming language, which provides a huge variety of tools for statistical analysis. It is the most widely used free statistical software in academia, and the most sought after statistical programming skill in industry.
This course is an introduction to using the R software and language, suitable for those who have never encountered R before. No previous statistical knowledge is assumed but participants should be familiar with Microsoft Windows and Excel.
Topics include running calculations, handling data, organising instructions, calculation of summary statistics and producing graphics. Teaching is through guided computer practicals. The main learning objective is a familiarity with R that will give course participants a platform from which to explore the wide range of functions provided by R.

This short course runs for one day, 10.00 - 16.00
Assessment
This is a non-credit bearing course and no assessment will be undertaken.
You will receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course.
